Beauty Care Needs Met On-Site
The convenience of Forsyth Court’s on-site beauty salon and barber means all you have to do is walk in to get your hair and nails done. Of course, appointments are available.
Cosmetologists and aroma therapists visit the salon periodically and offer their services.
Fitness Right at Home
Forsyth Court residents enjoy a variety of health and fitness activities, from weekly group exercise classes to anytime access to on-site fitness equipment.
A walking club treks through the inside of the building, taking advantage of the shelter and circular path of the upper floor hallways. Additionally, a number of residents enjoy circling the building outside in nicer weather. East Indian dance exercises are offered weekly. Bayada Home Health maintains an office in-house and provides physical and occupational therapies as needed. A licensed personal trainer, specializing in programs for seniors, visits the community 3 times per week.

Enjoy restaurant-style dining served with courtesy and caring by our staff who know you. Chef-prepared meals are served every day in Forsyth Court’s dining room. Sit with friends or invite your family for a special occasion in our private dining room. Each meal is designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of community members.
The Chef meets with residents monthly to review menu items, take suggestions, and answer questions. Almost everything is completely scratch made. Favorite dishes shared by residents include homemade clam chowder, banana pudding, fried chicken and Belgian waffles.
Make Memories Exploring the Surrounding Community
There’s so much to explore in the Winston-Salem area and Forsyth Court makes sure that residents experience as much as possible. Regular outings to favorite restaurants, local events, and more introduce residents to all their neighborhood has to offer and connect them to the surrounding community.
Monthly “lunch out” trips include Olive Garden, Red Lobster and local favorite Dario. Monthly day trips have included a Moravian Candle Tea, Shelton Vineyards, the Billy Graham Library, Supreme Fruitcake Factory, Reynolda House Museum and Art Gallery and Historic Bethabara Park. Recently, residents have formed an arts group attending evening performances of the area symphony and the Nutcracker Ballet. Monthly they attend a seniors’ luncheon at a nearby church.
Life is Never Boring
Forsyth Court’s comprehensive calendar is packed with both recurring activities and special events. The variety of available activities is meant to enrich the whole person by stimulating physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, creative, social or vocational wellness.
Forsyth Court has two enclosed courtyards where residents design flower gardens. Popular activities include bingo, musical, dramatic and dance presentations of all kinds, bible studies, and fun snacks by the fireplace. Book clubs, poetry classes, jewelry making, and calligraphy classes have been popular, and weekly bridge, poker, dominoes and rummikub games are well attended.
Pets Make Life Better
Furry friends are welcomed as residents at Forsyth Court. We understand how important the companionship and bond that seniors share with their pets. We’re delighted to have cats, dogs, birds, and even bunnies as part of our community.
We are currently in the process of coordinating a new therapy dog program. Resident canines are beloved and doted on by many of our residents and they provide moments of joy socialization for the entire community.
Stay Connected With Technology and WiFi
Wifi is provided community wide and two desk top computers and laser printer are available for resident use on a 24-hour basis in the Community Library. A Wii console provides bowling and chair exercises. We have a Tech Tuesday which is led by a tech savvy resident who usually provides individual instruction on phones, tablets and laptops.
Travel and Adventure Is Available
The exclusive Travel & Stay program offers residents exciting opportunities to travel around the country, with free stays of up to seven days at any of Holiday Retirement’s more than 260 communities. Three chef-prepared meals are included with each trip. Visit all 43 states or just choose a favorite new location or two.
If you prefer the feel of travel without the time it takes to get somewhere, Forsyth Court hosts themed special events, like boardwalk festivals and friend days, that give you a taste of the beach and beyond without leaving home.
Lend a Helping Hand
Community wide, residents support the local police department by making plarn mats that are distributed to homeless neighbors. Several individuals participate in a nearby food pantry and a Kid’s Café program. Annually, supplies are collected for local elementary schools and Girl Scouts hold an annual cookie booth. Local ROTC high school students come in each Veteran’s Day and elementary choirs serenade residents throughout the year. An ongoing partnership with a Wake Forest University service fraternity brings a group of students to interact with residents weekly in an informal setting.
