Beauty Care Needs Met On-Site
The convenience of Carson Plaza's on-site beauty salon and barber means all you have to do is walk in to get your hair and nails done. Of course, appointments are available.
The salon manager, Virginia, and her daughter, Cindy have outside clients that come in on a regular basis for hair and nail services. Most of these clients have friends that live at Carson Plaza so it turns in a pampering party! Massage Therapist, Cynthia, comes in regularly. Cynthia’s mother is one of our residents. Our manicurist has 36 years of experience and hair stylist has 54. It's safe to say they know their stuff!
Fitness Right at Home
Carson Plaza residents enjoy a variety of health and fitness activities, from weekly group exercise classes to anytime access to on-site fitness equipment.
One way we've made fitness fun, we created a “scavenger hunt” for each Friday, and residents walk the building looking for the item. They earn “Carson Bucks” and are entered in a monthly drawing. Residents seem to enjoy what we call "functional fitness" twice a week, as well as chair-exercise Monday through Saturday.
Let Us Serve You
Enjoy restaurant-style dining served with courtesy and caring by our staff who know you. Chef-prepared meals are served every day in Carson Plaza’s dining room. Sit with friends or invite your family for a special occasion in our private dining room. Each meal is designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of community members.
Chef Lio has been with Holiday over 23 years and has been awarded the Circle of Excellence Award. He was named and awarded “chef of the month” in the region 3 months in a row. Chef’s Corner meets monthly and some requests/recipes are added to the monthly menu.
Make Memories Exploring the Surrounding Community
There’s so much to explore in the Carson City area and Carson plaza makes sure that residents experience as much as possible. Regular outings to favorite restaurants, local events, and more introduce residents to all their neighborhood has to offer and connect them to the surrounding community.
Popular bus trips include the casino, restaurants, baseball games and Community Center theater shows. There are "lotto runs" and "mystery excursions" to see nature. A group goes out to eat together once a month to a new restaurant. Residents suggest restaurants and the winner is pulled out of a hat.
Life is Never Boring
Carson Plaza’s comprehensive calendar is packed with both recurring activities and special events. The variety of available activities is meant to enrich the whole person by stimulating physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, creative, social or vocational wellness.
Residents with a green thumb participate in caring for the flower planters at the entrance of the building. There are groups of residents that gather in the library to play card games and do jigsaw puzzles. The reading club meets monthly. The TV room is a very popular spot to gather for sporting events. We show many types of movies from Netflix.
Pets Make Life Better
Furry friends are welcomed as residents at Carson Plaza. We understand how important the companionship and bond that seniors share with their pets. We’re delighted to have cats, dogs, birds, and even bunnies as part of our community.
There is a community dog park, it’s a fenced grassy area with benches, for residents to enjoy with their dogs. We also have dog trainers come to the community monthly, they coach residents on various issues associated with “apartment living with dogs.”
Stay Connected With Technology and WiFi
Carson Plaza is equipped with WiFi access to help you stay connected throughout common areas. You can use a community desktop computer to stay up to date or connect your personal devices to the WiFi.
Travel and Adventure Is Available
The exclusive Travel & Stay program offers residents exciting opportunities to travel around the country, with free stays of up to seven days at any of Holiday Retirement’s more than 260 communities. Three chef-prepared meals are included with each trip. Visit all 43 states or just choose a favorite new location or two.
Carson Plaza also operates a program that lets residents get a taste of faraway countries. Once a month, residents can enjoy a themed happy hour with music, food, and presentations related to a new country. They also get a stamp in their community passport.
Lend a Helping Hand
We have a donation barrel that benefits the Friends of MS. Residents donate clothing and other items. Residents support groups, such as Girl Scouts and ROTC at the local high school, by purchasing their cookies and candies. Bible study groups gather regularly in the TV room. Community friend, Nils, volunteers to lead billiards, play chess, and set up and lead our golf putting tournaments. We always welcome high school students who want to earn school credits, as well as other local volunteers or resident family members. The Presbyterian and Catholic Church brings in communion for residents.
