Beauty Care Needs Met On-Site

The convenience of Washington Common's on-site beauty salon and barber means all you have to do is walk in to get your hair and nails done. Of course, appointments are available.

Residents also enjoy access to a massage therapist, and our beauty shop also does nails.

Fitness Right at Home

Washington Commons residents enjoy a variety of health and fitness activities, from weekly group exercise classes to anytime access to on-site fitness equipment.

Residents can join friends and follow a walking path around the community. We also hold exercise classes Monday through Friday, with an instructor visiting once a week, and Zumba and Tai Chi weekly. Legacy Therapy is on-site for physical therapy Monday through Friday.

Let Us Serve You

Enjoy restaurant-style dining served with courtesy and caring by our staff who know you. Chef-prepared meals are served every day in Washington Commons dining room. Sit with friends or invite your family for a special occasion in our private dining room. Each meal is designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of community members.

Our residents are especially fond of our chef's fried pork chops and fried chicken. Our chef holds a monthly meeting with residents to pinpoint their likes and dislikes, and discuss future taste ideas. Our chef wins the Holiday Star Award every quarter.

Make Memories Exploring the Surrounding Community

There’s so much to explore in the Evans area and Washington Commons makes sure that residents experience as much as possible. Regular outings to favorite restaurants, local events, and more introduce residents to all their neighborhood has to offer and connect them to the surrounding community.

Popular destinations include monthly restaurant outings and trips to the casino in North Carolina, the canal trip (boat tour) in Augusta, the Singing Christmas Tree, Hamrick's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Old MacDonald's Fish camp and more.

Life is Never Boring

Washington Common's comprehensive calendar is packed with both recurring activities and special events. The variety of available activities is meant to enrich the whole person by stimulating physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, creative, social or vocational wellness.

First and second Wednesdays we have musical entertainment. We had to start bringing it in every month as we can get up to 65 residents at both events. We have poker Night Tuesdays and Thursdays, and devotional group that meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

We have raised garden beds for the residents. They plant flowers and some tomatoes, and the residents love to eat them!

Pets Make Life Better

Furry friends are welcomed as residents at Washington Commons. We understand how important the companionship and bond that seniors share with their pets. We’re delighted to have cats, dogs, birds, and even bunnies as part of our community.

Once a quarter an animal adoption agency visits and brings animals to socialize with our residents. All residents know Pineapple the cat, and a fox and deer play in our back yard from time to time. Many residents join each other to walk their dogs.

Stay Connected With Technology and WiFi

Washington Commons residents enjoy WiFi access in the common area, as well as access to a computer in the activities room. Our residents choose what they would like to do. For example, one resident shares his Alexa device and plays music for all.

Travel and Adventure Is Available

The exclusive Travel & Stay program offers residents exciting opportunities to travel around the country, with free stays of up to seven days at any of Holiday Retirement’s more than 260 communities. Three chef-prepared meals are included with each trip. Visit all 43 states or just choose a favorite new location or two.

We occasionally hold food cook-offs where chefs "battle" each other to see who can create a better meal. We also hold spotlight events where we build "food trucks" and enjoy international cuisine.

Lend a Helping Hand

At Washington Commons, many residents find a sense of fulfillment in donating their time and skills to a cause close to their hearts. For example, we have a drop stitch group that makes hats for the hospitals, and our residents volunteer at a local elementary school. In addition, we did a back-to-school drive and are currently doing a food drive and Toys for Tots.

We have a mom's group that comes in to craft with our residents and bring their kids for a safe trunk or treat. Multiple Baptist churches come to sing, and volunteer spend time with the residents.
