Fitness Right at Home

Village Gate residents enjoy a variety of health and fitness activities, from weekly group exercise classes to anytime access to on-site fitness equipment.

Leisurely strolls along the community’s walking trail are a resident favorite, as is the 26-mile Farmington River Canal Trail, which is about 100 yards from the residence. For assistance with increasing strength and mobility, physical therapy is available on-site and UConn Health is less than five miles away.

Beauty Care Needs Met On-Site

The convenience of Village Gate's on-site beauty salon and barber means all you have to do is walk in to get your hair and nails done. Of course, appointments are available.

Our talented beautician has been a part of the Village Gate family for over two decades. People from both within the community and around Farmington use her beauty services. Appointments with a chair massage therapist are available twice monthly for a little extra pampering.

Let Us Serve You

Enjoy restaurant-style dining served by a courteous staff. Chef-prepared meals are served every day in Village Gate’s dining room. Sit with friends or invite your family for a special occasion in our private dining room. Each meal is designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of community members.

Our beloved chef is very active in the community and hosts a monthly resident roundtable for feedback. He puts a lot of pride in his menus and encourages the culinary team to be creative, providing new and exciting dishes requested by the residents as well as their own creations.

Make Memories Exploring the Surrounding Community

There’s so much to explore in the Farmington area and Village Gate makes sure that residents experience as much as possible. Regular outings to favorite restaurants, local events, and more introduce residents to all their neighborhood has to offer and connect them to the surrounding community.

Complimentary transportation provides you easy access to local activities, events and attractions, including a monthly “Lunch Bunch” outing to resident-selected restaurants as well as field trips to wineries, breweries, casinos, farm stands, Christmas Tree Village, and Pumpkin Town USA –to name a handful.

Life is Never Boring

Village Gate’s comprehensive calendar is packed with both recurring activities and special events. The variety of available activities is meant to enrich the whole person by stimulating physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, creative, social or vocational wellness.

Residents maintain our community garden and use the veggies to feed our community rabbit, Tabitha. Another favorite activity among residents includes our chef's bi-weekly pop up events with appetizers, hot chocolate, and more.

Pets Make Life Better

Furry friends are welcomed as residents at Village Gate. We understand how important the companionship and bond that seniors share with their pets. We’re delighted to have cats, dogs, birds, and even bunnies as part of our community.

Residents love Tabitha, our community bunny. She has a playpen in the lobby during the day and retires to a comfy cage in the evenings.

Stay Connected With Technology and WiFi

Village Gate is equipped with WiFi access to help you stay connected throughout common areas. You can use community desktop computers to stay up to date, or you can connect your personal devices to the WiFi.

We host "Tech Tuesdays," where residents learn about technology from their resident enrichment coordinator on a weekly basis. Volunteers from Geek Squad also come to the community to teach residents about technology and answer questions.

Travel and Adventure Is Available

The exclusive Travel & Stay program offers residents exciting opportunities to travel around the country, with free stays of up to seven days at any of Holiday Retirement’s more than 260 communities. Three chef-prepared meals are included with each trip. Visit all 43 states or just choose a favorite new location or two.

Lend a Helping Hand

Many residents find a sense of fulfillment in donating their time and skills to a cause close to their hearts.

We support Toys for Tots and local food banks. Members of our knitting club regularly donate hand-crafted items to people in need. Village Gate encourages residents who would like to help at home. Community activities are mostly resident-volunteer driven. All leaders host one activity of their choice once per week.
